U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips of Riverside, Calif., refused on March 4 to stay the proceedings or delay the trial date. She did not explain her decision, even though earlier she’d indicated that she might order a short delay.

“We’re delighted with the ruling and look forward to starting the trial,” said Dan Woods, a partner in the Los Angeles office of White & Case who represents the Log Cabin Republicans. The gay rights organization is suing to overturn the law.
