The Washington area’s largest law offices reported a barely 1% rise in head count, going virtually flat after five years of steady increases, according to the latest Legal Times 150 survey.

The survey, which ranks offices in the region by head count, also shows that the total count of partners increased by less than 2% from 2008 to 2009.The fizzle comes as little surprise after months of Big Law layoffs and associate start-date deferrals.
