Allegations by the conservative group Judicial Watch that the Arizona Supreme Court chief justice has "banned" the use of terms such as "illegal alien" and "illegals" in court opinions has touched off a round of denials and denunciations on both sides. The dust-up began last week when Judicial Watch posted online a letter from the Arizona Hispanic Bar Association critical of 18 "inflammatory" words or phrases in opinions and court documents and asked that courts be discouraged from using them.
