The use of DNA evidence increases the likelihood of suspect identification and arrest in property crime cases, according to a new study. When DNA evidence is used, twice as many suspects are identified and arrested and more than twice as many cases are accepted for prosecution than in cases that do not use DNA evidence, the study found. DNA is also at least five times more likely to result in a suspect identification compared with fingerprints.
