New Jersey is edging closer to joining 46 other states that have adopted the Uniform Trade Secrets Act, which provides for civil remedies in cases of misappropriation of trade secrets.

The Senate Commerce Committee on Monday unanimously recommended passage of A-921/S-2456, which the Assembly passed last December by a 78-0 vote. Approval by the full Senate is expected next week, but an amendment tacked on by the committee will require sending the bill back to the Assembly for final legislative approval.
