SAN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds’ defense team is trying to get a dozen witnesses and more than half of the governments’ exhibits banned from trial.
If the ex-Giants slugger prevails, it would be the latest blow to the government’s perjury case against him. But such a ruling could also give prosecutors cover if they are looking for a palatable way to ditch the aging case before the March 21 trial.
