The number of big-firm attorneys who work part time is on the rise, and at a growing number of firms, part-time attorneys are eligible for partnership. But despite the trend, part-time work is often stigmatized, and those who opt for a reduced work schedule generally forgo any realistic chance at making partner. This may change as more firms realize that by offering alternative work arrangements, it's easier to attract -- and retain -- talent.
