SHERRY M. KNOWLES is leaving King & Spalding, where she is a partner, for GlaxoSmithKline, where she will become the global head of intellectual property and a senior vice president in September. She replaces David Roberts, who is retiring.

Knowles will have offices in Philadelphia and London but will continue to reside in Atlanta. She will lead a team of 200 employees.
