The Georgia Court of Appeals ruled to cap damages at $1 million in a Gwinnett County dispute between companies represented by King & Spalding’s David Balser and Alston & Bird’s former state Supreme Court Justice Keith Blackwell in the case that had the potential to be worth millions.

The plaintiff-appellant, HI Technology, a gift card company represented by Alston & Bird, contended the defendant-appellee, Quality Investment Properties of Suwanee’s failure to maintain their servers during a holiday shopping season cost them over $20 million in lost profits and power outage expenditures.
