Georgia’s six-week abortion ban is to remain in effect, according to a 6-1 Supreme Court opinion authored by Justice Verda Colvin that was released on Tuesday.

The decision officially reverses Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney’s November bench trial order declaring the ban, also known as the Living Infants Fairness and Equality, or LIFE Act, null from the start because it was enacted in 2019 when Roe v. Wade still allowed abortions past six weeks.
