A Georgia law firm has strengthened its well-connected political law practice after adding several Republican heavy hitters from both U.S. coasts this year. The additions have expanded the law firm’s offerings to new practice areas while more than doubling the firm’s head count to 19 lawyers.

Johns Creek-based Chalmers, Adams, Backer & Kaufman has added 11 lawyers across four locations in the U.S., including some either closely connected to a state’s political machinery or elected officials themselves, to add to the eight existing members of the firm. The firm said the attorneys joined in the first quarter, although the firm announced them on Thursday.
