Andres Fernandez, co-chair of Gunster’s banking and financial services practice group, and colleague Gabriel Caballero have joined Holland & Knight’s Miami office.

Fernandez, a partner, and Caballero, a senior counsel, will beef up Holland & Knight’s financial services practice group.

The pair advise domestic and international financial services clients on regulatory issues with an emphasis on compliance and enforcement matters related to anti-money laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.

Fernandez’s clients include banks in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Puerto Rico.

He is a member of the Treasury Department’s Bank Secrecy Act Advisory Group of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and the South Florida Banking Institute’s board of directors. He serves as general counsel to the Mike Lowell Foundation and honorary director of the Latin Builders Association.

Caballero is active in the Florida International Bankers Association, serving on its legal and regulatory affairs committee, BSA/AML compliance officers committee and operations committee.
