Beleaguered Fort Lauderdale law firm Ruden McClosky is deep into merger talks with an Ohio-based law firm and expects to make an announcement within weeks, according to three sources.

Ruden could be acquired by Cleveland-based Benesch, a 175-lawyer firm with offices in Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis; Philadelphia; White Plains, New York; Wilmington, Delaware; and Shanghai, China. Benesch attorneys were at Ruden’s offices last Thursday and Friday for talks, sources including two former employees said.
