Because of Miami’s connections to Latin America, the city has always been at the intersection of international deals. More recently, it’s become a more popular arbitration seat for international disputes as well. Today, local attorneys are seeing a rise in the volume of cross-border disputes in certain sectors: namely tech, licensing and distributorship.

Generally, international merger and acquisition deals have been getting called off because of both economic and political swings, according to Miami-based Joe Mamounas, a Greenberg Traurig litigation shareholder.
