An Orange County jury awarded $923,000 to a convention attendee who was injured while walking in the grassy median of a hotel parking lot.

On June 12, 2018, plaintiff Melissa Allen, 48, an insurance agent, was attending a convention at Caribe Royale Resort on World Center Drive, in Orlando. As she walked in the grassy median of the hotel’s parking lot, she stepped on the cover of an irrigation box. The cover flipped, causing her leg to fall into the hole below. Allen claimed an injury to her back.
