Legal groups from the U.S. and Mexico have banded together to create a joint committee focused on strengthening judicial and democratic institutions in both countries.

The groups—from the New York City Bar Association’s Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and the Mexican Bar Foundation—say they’ve agreed to work together to protect the rule of law in both, noting that erosions of institutions in Mexico will also have negative impacts on the U.S.
