The Miami-Dade Circuit Court added an update to its website Friday in which it provided that it is experiencing delays in the distribution of identification cards for the 2021 certification year and, as a result, the recertification period is being extended for 30 days, through April 9.

It comes one day after David Winker, an attorney based in Miami with a private practice, sent an email to the Chief Circuit Judge Bertila Soto expressing his concerns about expired identifications. In the email, Winker said any lawsuits served in the last two days could be invalid because no process servers are licensed right now in Miami-Dade.
