Insurance defense firm Haliczer, Pettis & Schwamm is adapting to changes sweeping through South Florida’s insurance defense market by switching sides. It will now focus on plaintiff medical malpractice and personal injury litigation, the firm announced Tuesday.

Haliczer’s partners said stress and upheaval in American health care prompted their decision to turn to plaintiff medical malpractice clients. The firm is walking away from long-term business relationships with hospitals, physicians and related health care providers—clients for whom the firm previously did medical negligence defense work.
