In a time when banks are facing intense legal scrutiny, JPMorgan Chase & Co. has chosen Stacey Friedman, a former top-notch litigator at Sullivan & Cromwell, to lead its 1,200-lawyer team.

The bank announced in July that Friedman would succeed Stephen Cutler as GC. She will report to and work with Cutler for the remainder of 2015, and take over when Cutler becomes Chase’s vice chairman next year.
