The McKesson Corporation will promote from within to fill the vacated general counsel’s office. On Monday, the company announced that Lori Schechter, who has served as associate general counsel of McKesson since 2012, would become its new executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer. The appointment follows current general counsel Lauren Seeger’s decision to leave the health-care services and information technology company to become executive vice president and general counsel of the American Express Company.

“Lori is exceptionally qualified to lead our legal, public affairs and compliance functions,” chairman and CEO John Hammergren said in a statement. “Her deep litigation expertise and proven judgment, combined with her outstanding track record of developing and managing complex legal organizations, make her the ideal person to lead McKesson’s general counsel organization as we expand globally.”
