At least 522 first-time general counsels took the reins of legal departments in the U.S. during the past year and a half amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s likely many of them would welcome guidance from more experienced legal chiefs. 

To that end, legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa asked more than 150 seasoned GCs about what they learned from their first in-house leadership roles and what they wished they’d known when they reached the pinnacle of the legal department.
