A former assistant White House counsel during the Barack Obama presidency has been tapped as the general counsel of San Francisco-based UNITY Biotechnology Inc., the company announced earlier this month.

Alexander Nguyen began his role at the biotechnology company earlier this month. Nguyen previously served in-house at three Roviant Sciences companies. Most recently, he served as the general counsel of Alyvant, a Roviant technology company using data analytics for pharmaceutical commercialization. He also worked as senior partner and head of compliance at Roviant Sciences and head of legal at Axovant Sciences, another Roviant company.
