SoftBank Group, a Tokyo-based firm that has been deemed the world’s biggest tech investorannounced on Monday that it’s named an esteemed dealmaker from Morrison & Foerster as its first ever chief legal officer and senior vice president.

Robert Townsend, a partner who joined Morrison & Foerster in 1984 after graduating law school and has never left the firm, will begin working as CLO of SoftBank on Sept. 17.
