Kirtee Kapoor, head of the India practice at Davis Polk & Wardwell and a partner at the firm in Menlo Park, California, died Monday morning after being struck by a train at a crossing in nearby Atherton.

Kapoor, 46, handled M&A transactions for major corporations. He advised Comcast Corp.’s Universal Studios on its $7.8 billion move into China in September 2015 and represented Japanese pharmaceutical giant Daiichi Sankyo Co. on its $3.2 billion sale that same year of the Indian generic drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.
