In the latest large real estate deal announced in the past week, a pair of Am Law 100 firms have grabbed lead roles on a $1.2 billion transaction that finds an affiliate of private equity firm The Blackstone Group acquiring Apple REIT Six, a real estate investment trust focused on hotels holdings, according to sibling publication GlobeSt.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is advising BRE Select Hotels, a subsidiary of Blackstone Real Estate Partners VII, in connection with the deal. Gregory Ressa, head of Simpson’s real estate department, and corporate partner Brian Stadler are leading a team of lawyers from the firm working on the matter.
