Jones Day, which has been on a lateral hiring tear in its five California offices, announced Monday that it was adding a prominent group of bankruptcy lawyers from the dissolving Dewey & LeBoeuf. Bruce Bennett, who’s been managing partner of Dewey’s Los Angeles office, joined Jones Day as an equity partner Monday along with three other lawyers: partners Sidney Levinson and Joshua Mester and of counsel James Johnston. More Dewey attorneys are expected to follow later this week.

We checked in with Bennett about the reasons that led him to leave the firm he had co-founded for a spot at Dewey last year and how his group selected Jones Day.
