Barnes & Thornburg launched a Los Angeles office on Thursday with five partners hired from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. The move gives the expansion-minded Indianapolis firm a foothold in California.
Partners Stephen Mick, Kevin Rising, Jason Karlov, Kyle Kirwan, and Scott Witlin are joining the firm from Akin Gump’s Los Angeles office. David Allen, former managing partner of Akin Gump’s L.A. office, intends to join B&T as managing partner of its new office after concluding a pending client matter.
