Another week, another megadeal. International Paper, led by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Sidley Austin, bought packing company DS Smith, counseled itself by Slaughter & May and Sullivan & Cromwell, for $9.9 billion last week.

It was the largest of five announced deals over $1 billion in this past week. In other deals, there were two new IPOs, while debt offerings were lower than in recent weeks, with only six over $500 million issued.
