The annual survey for the Pro Bono Scorecard seeks to quantify the pro bono contributions of the Am Law 200 while also telling the stories of the many causes they supported with their work. In 2021, client demand took focus for firms, which created a decline in pro bono work, both in terms of the number of total hours and the number of  lawyers doing more than 20 hours each.

In this year’s report, we analyze the numbers for domestic and international pro bono work and reflect on the circumstances that created so much need for legal assistance. We also look forward to what comes next for the pro bono community and whether 2021′s decline was a blip or could be part of a multiyear trend.
