There’s something going on at the Los Angeles office of Thelen Reid & Priest, the kind of success story that’s every law firm manager’s dream — and usually just that, a dream.

If you were Chuck Birenbaum, the take-charge, egotistical managing partner of the office, you might be tempted to pinch yourself. Lucky for him, there’s more tangible proof of the success of the office — some good numbers. During the past three years, Thelen’s L.A. site has brought on about 25 attorneys, many of which were lateral partners. And according to Birenbaum, the 45-attorney office is closing in on additional prominent acquisitions that could help move its Los Angeles presence to nearly 60 attorneys by the end of the year.
