Offshore firm Harneys has announced it will open an office in Singapore on April 7.

Harneys global banking and finance head Colin Reigels will relocate from Hong Kong to open the new office. Reigels will be joined by funds partner Lisa Pearce, also moving from Hong Kong. The office will have six lawyers in total.

The office will offer advice on British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands law. In addition to the two partners’ specialties, the firm says it also plans to develop a private wealth practice in Singapore.

Reigels, who relocated to Hong Kong from London at the beginning of last year, says the Singapore opening is reflective of the island nation’s growing importance as a regional financial hub. Globally, the firm has over 100 lawyers in six offices.
