On Tuesday, the Georgia Court of Appeals will hear a dispute between proponents of a new, free-standing emergency room in central Georgia and competing hospitals which oppose the project and have launched successive appeals against three repeated approvals.

Coliseum Medical Center, represented by Kathlynn Polvino of Health Law Strategists, is planning to establish a free-standing emergency room in Houston County. The certificate of need department commissioner granted Coliseum approval to proceed with construction after reports that emergency room wait times were reported to be about three and a half hours at Houston Hospitals and the Medical Center of Peach County.
