A new suit in federal court in New Jersey will test the waters for obtaining compensation for victims of “deepfake” pornography generated by artificial intelligence.
A 15-year-old girl says in the suit that a high school classmate used an AI application to create and distribute nonconsensual nude images of her. The girl, identified as Jane Doe, is a high school student from Westfield. Around last August she accepted an Instagram friend request from a male classmate, who then downloaded a fully clothed photo of the girl that he used to generate those images, according to the suit.
