Eliot D. Prescott

The Honorable Eliot D. Prescott is a resident of West Hartford, Connecticut. He currently serves on the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2023, he was elected to senior status and since then has continued to serve on both the Appellate Court and as a trial court judge presiding over criminal trials. He previously served as a Judge of the Superior Court from 2004 to 2014, where he presided primarily over criminal and civil trials. Prior to his judicial service, he served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office, where he handled numerous appeals and was the Head of the Special Litigation Department. He also served as a law clerk to Justice David M. Borden on the Connecticut Supreme Court. Judge Prescott was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law from 2001 to 2016. Currently, he is a co-chair of the Advisory Committee on the Appellate Rules and a member of the Evidence Oversight Committee. He is the author of the leading treatise on the law of evidence in Connecticut, Tait’s Handbook of Connecticut Evidence (6th Ed. 2019).

Julie A. Lavoie

Attorney Julie A. Lavoie is a resident of Berlin, Connecticut. She currently works as a litigation associate at the law firm of Harris Beach Murtha Cullina PLLC. She is involved in a wide range of business litigation matters, in state and federal court, at the trial and appellate court level. Ms. Lavoie received her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. In 2020, she served as a law clerk to Judge Eliot D. Prescott on the Connecticut Appellate Court. Prior to that, she served as a law clerk to the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court.
