The issue of partnership voting is largely a function of two variables: the size of the law firm, and the nature of the issues under consideration. The trend in AmLaw's 100 largest firms—with the exception of some of the more tradition-bound New York City firms—is clearly in the direction of greater centralization of decision-making by the firm's management.
