On Thursday, Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory announced the beta launch of a summarization feature that uses OpenAI’s GPT models, specifically GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, to produce summaries of court rulings. A press release announcing the feature noted that it will “initially serve legal professionals using the Wolters Kluwer Online research platform in Germany before being rolled out to other products.”

The press release added the feature will provide “more than tens of thousands of GPT-generated summaries,” enable “easy categorization” of cases, and reduce the amount of documents that require in-depth reviews.
