George Washington law professor Dmitry Karshtedt, a popular and active presence in intellectual property circles, was found dead in his Washington apartment on Sunday for reasons that are unclear. He was in his mid-40s.

“We have lost a brilliant scholar, a cherished teacher, a devoted colleague, and a kindhearted, caring man, not at the end of a long life but in the midst of a successful career with the promise of much more to come, a promise that is now tragically cut short,” Robert Brauneis, co-director of the school’s IP program, said in an email Monday morning to the GW community.
