Some business leaders and academics say the terms of the EU AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence regulation, go too far, putting at risk AI innovation in Europe and around the world.

Proposed in 2021, the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act in June crossed over one of its biggest hurdles, winning approval from the European Parliament, clearing the way for negotiations with the EU executive body and 27 member states.
