Ex-Dechert partner and white collar head Neil Gerrard used former client the Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) as a “cash cow”, billing it more than $18 million over a two-year period, through “scaremongering” and dishonesty to justify his multi-million dollar salary, London’s High Court heard on Monday.
Set to continue until September 2021, the virtual hearing is the culmination of a decade-long dispute between joint respondents Dechert and Gerrard – who retired from the firm in 2020 – and former client ENRC, a mining firm, which instructed Gerrard on a white collar matter between 2011 and 2013.
