Mishcon de Reya and Mayer Brown are among the latest firms to launch client offerings to provide guidance over the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mishcon has set up a “cross-firm COVID-19 team” made up several partners and legal directors clients can contact for coronavirus-related guidance. The group has also put together a practical guidance document and is reachable at [email protected].

Kevin Gold, managing partner at Mishcon, said in a statement: “We are living in uncertain and worrying times with a crisis that is affecting our lives in a manner none of us has experienced before. Above all my priority is the health and well-being of all my colleagues, clients and friends of the firm. We are here for you and remain determined to carry on giving you the best advice that we can in the context of these unchartered waters.”

Meanwhile, Mayer Brown has set up a global response team to the virus, “closely monitoring the situation” and “equipped to respond rapidly to client inquiries” whilst issuing guidance and answers to their clients’ questions arising from the impacts of the virus, a statement from the firm said.

The team has launched the COVID-19 web portal and a blog providing updates, legal insights and guidance for their clients. It also launched a global traveller navigator tool showcasing a heat map of the regions affected which have travel, visa or health checks restrictions.

U.K. firm Ashfords has also set up a coronavirus team to help clients identify, prepare and respond to the legal issues arising from the outbreak, according to the outfit, while Cooley has also launched a coronavirus resource hub to provide advice for clients on the legal, regulatory and commercial implications of the pandemic.

The focus comes as firms take further measures in response to the crisis.

A growing number of firms are encouraging their people to work remotely, with Cooley, RPC and King & Spalding the latest to push the measure.

The virus has now spread to over 191,000 people and killed close to 8,000 people globally, according to the latest data published by the World Health Organisation.
