The fast evolution of artificial intelligence is spurring a new generation of legal tech startups—ones that are not only commanding the attention of major investors, but also turning heads with high-profile hires.

The latest: E-discovery startup Fileread, which announced in early May that it hired the head of legal services at pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca as its new chief strategy officer and general counsel. Josh Kreamer created AstraZeneca’s internal e-discovery program from scratch to help control the company’s costs, an effort that saw him innovating with tools such as Text IQ and Fileread.
