Dallas-based litigation boutique McKool Smith is not changing its strategy or focus in response to a rash of lawyer departures in the early days of January.

Founder Mike McKool said the lateral hiring market for litigators has been active, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the firm has added some lawyers while also losing some. Turnover is not unusual for litigation boutiques, he said.
