As if navigating through a pandemic wasn’t enough, lawyers at Houston-based trial boutique Susman Godfrey this year faced the difficult challenge of coping with the loss of firm founder Stephen Susman, and then transitioning to new leadership.
Susman, a nationally known trial lawyer who split his time between Houston and New York, died in July at 79 after contracting COVID-19 while recovering from a severe cycling accident in April in Houston. Susman was not only a skilled lawyer, but an innovator who was one of the first to take commercial suits on a contingency fee.
