Contrary to popular belief amongst consumers of cybersecurity products and services, cybersecurity is a journey, not a destination. We cannot purchase a product or service that magically solves all our problems involving information security. Certainly, we can mitigate risk. But we can never eliminate it.

Take driving a vehicle for example. We can purchase a car, truck, or SUV with the latest and greatest safety features. We can take a defensive driving course, comply with all traffic laws, and not drive under risky conditions. Yet, despite taking all these precautions someone can still run a red light and hit us. Did we mitigate the risk of a car accident through our actions? Yes. Did we eliminate it? No.
