Shortly after hearing whether former President Donald Trump is eligible to return to office, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday was dealt another explosive case involving the Republican frontrunner that could affect the 2024 presidential election.

Trump’s lawyers filed a request to pause his upcoming criminal trial on four charges related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The former president’s counsel has argued Trump has presidential immunity from prosecution over his conduct in the weeks before he left office and is seeking to dismiss the four-count federal indictment from Special Counsel Jack Smith.
