Former President Donald Trump on Friday afternoon appealed a ruling issued Thursday night which would have allowed civil claims related to his role in the January 6 attack on the capitol to continue.

The new opinion from District of Columbia District Court Judge Amit Mehta mostly cites his earlier opinion in Thompson v. Trump. In that case, filed by a handful of congressman and other capitol police officers, Trump was denied immunity to a wealth of civil claims but it’s currently pending an opinion out of the U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Columbia. In the new 22-page missive, released Thursday evening, the judge did dismiss some claims against Trump and his allies filed by a different set of capitol police officers who were injured in the attack.
