Days, if not hours, after the U.S. Supreme Court revoked an almost 50-year-old constitutional protection for those choosing to have an abortion, a flood of responses came in from the private sector. Businesses released statements offering support for stakeholders’ reproductive freedom, prominent law firms signed petitions protesting the decision, and some companies even promised to fund transport for employees who reside in states that would criminalize the procedure.

To be sure, while those against the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision might feel reassured by corporations’ bids to protect employee and consumer privacy, whether the entities will truly be able to fulfill their pledges in the age of Big Data is not yet a foregone conclusion.
