The estate of a woman shot and killed at an apartment complex in Atlanta received a $3.8 million verdict out of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia; however, a lawsuit filed by the complex’s insurer is keeping the family from recovering damages, the plaintiffs’ counsel told the Daily Report.

The jury returned a verdict March 21 in favor of Tijuana Frazier’s estate that included $1.8 million in compensatory damages for her conscious pain and suffering allegedly caused by Contour Eastwyck’s willful misconduct prior to her death, along with punitive damages totaling $2 million.
