Fledgling Atlanta boutique class-action defense firm Watstein Terepka has only been open since April but has since secured four class-action dismissal wins and nearly doubled its headcount from six employees to 10—including an alumnus of King & Spalding and Alston & Bird.

“It’s rare for a class-action defense practice at even a big firm to get four ‘with prejudice’ motion to dismiss wins in a year, much less a new, 10-lawyer firm to get four in a little over a month,” firm co-founder Ryan Watstein said. According to the founders, post-COVID litigation trends have allowed to firm to thrive as a national practice, as courts and clients around the country became more open to non-local counsel.
