Philadelphia-based insurance defense firm Chartwell Law was hit with two Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints earlier this month accusing the firm of discriminating against a former partner and associate who are Muslim.

The complaints allege that the firm’s Miami office wrongfully fired former partner Shaghayegh Nowroozpour and former associate Zohra Khorashi. The two attorneys filed separate complaints on the same week, both alleging that they faced several instances where they were treated differently than their colleagues, which they blame on a pattern of discrimination and retaliation, according to documents obtained by the Daily Business Review.
